JAJAH iPhone Web Application 2.0 Released

JAJAH iPhone Web Application 2.0 Released

All the iPhone fans can use the JAJAH iPhone Web applicaton 2.0 which also supports the Apple iPod touch. The app comes with the known look&feel of the iPhone's dial pad and address book enabling users to make low-cost global calling directly from their Apple iPhone and iPod touch.

How it works

You simply point your mobile Safari browser to and dial the number you want to call. Alternatively you can select the name in your JAJAH contacts and click on the number you want to call. JAJAH will call your phone, you pick up, and you will be connected to the desired international number. You can call any phone anywhere in the world (landline or mobile) without the need of an international calling plan.

As the iPod touch is not meant to be a phone and missing the microphone this app can still initiate a call to your regular cell phone or land line nearby.

In any way, try it out, register here

Google on-the-go

Google Mobile

Google's developed an iPhone-friendly version of their Google Calendar, allowing you to add, view, but not edit or delete events from your phone.

You could get this kind of functionality by syncing GCal to Calendar or Outlook and then syncing to your iPhone, allowing you to add, edit, and even delete events. But if you're out of office for some time, you might miss the syncing for a few days and this friendly interface is really great - and FAST !

Go and see at www.google.com/m from your Safari !

Skype for your iPhone

Cheaper calls with "IM+ for Skype"

For iPhone / iPod Touch
v. 1.0

IM+ for Skype is web-based iPhone / iPod Touch application that enables voice and text communication with other Skype users and provides cost-effective calling to landlines and mobiles.

Make cheaper calls worldwide for a very reasonable investment of $25, visit http://www.shapeservices.com

Enjoy the features of Spype on your iPhone. Unfortunately, the Webbased application does not offer all the features as on your standalone computer, but you can get connected during uncomfortable delays at airports, trainstations etc.

Uploading my DVD movies into the iPhone

I've tested many DVD converters, I even bought a few licenses before I found the link to the freeware HandBrake. It is great application with many features, supporting all kinds of video files and formats.

When using the iPhone, I experienced the best option is to use the MPEG4 format, 480 x 320 pixels scale. I am not using the template for the iPods, because it is making a limit of approx. 25 minutes length for the output video file.

It supports Linux, Mac and Windows too.

You can download HandBrake here !

Using iPhone in a small business

After 2 months of testing iPhone, I can finally justify the difference with the Pocket PC based MDA phone. I replaced the MDA phone in October 2007 with a brand new US version iPhone 1.1.1. Since I am a European, I had to jailbreak and unlock the iphone with the use of ConceitedSoftware.com and AnySIM software and the phone started to work. You can find all the procedures on http://conceitedsoftware.com . The AnySIM solution is for free, of course, you can donate, but do not follow the tricks of some cheating people to charge this freeware !

Now, I am very satisfied with the final results, the iPhone is really user friendly and the third party applications make it very useful tool for my daily business.

I am using both, Mac OS Tiger and MS Windows XP Pro on my MacBook Pro. In each OS I have got the email client and iTunes 7.5 installed. The synchronization works perfectly, I stopped any benchmarks with the MDA, because the iPhone is simply far, far better interface for my business needs. However there are several topics unsolved for the iPhone yet.

1. There is no TomTom navigation software for the iPhone yet
2. The conversion of my home movies on DVDs into iTunes does not work
3. There is no support for foreign languages, especially Central and Eastern European languages (Czech, Russian etc.)
4. The iPhone applications are Webbased, therefore an Edge or Wi-Fi network is needed to launch the apps
5. Communication clients (Skype, ICQ etc.) did not really work on the iPhone, the EDGE connection is rather slow, some applications are not able to work via EDGE (Skype)

I will look for the possibilities to solve these issues and let you know asap :o)
